I worked in room 101 and we used different forms of multimedia, we used:
A projection of eye surgery
The noise of a baby crying
Lamp (lighting)
Sodium Lights (lighting)
I think that the projection of eye surgery was very effective to use in the performance for room 101 because it is such a disturbing video and graphic image to see, being human as we are we immediately imagine ourselves and our reactions if we were under those circumstances and in doing this cause ourselves the feeling of disgust. Another reason as to why I found this effective is because due to the emotion of being disturbed it trigger a reflex that us as humans are unable to control like a cold chill or a shudder, the feeling could also cause goose bumps. Being in room 101 this is the intended affect on the audience and having this effect means that we are successful in portraying room 101 as a disturbing place and we ourselves as performers are making correct decisions.
I think the noise of the baby crying throughout was effective because our brains are observant and attentive of the noise and our primal instinct is to help, having this in room 101 knowing that you couldn't help this 'child' and to make matters worse Kitty (a torturer) would bang on the cupboard from where the noise was coming out and do the opposite of helping.
Having the sodium light was very helpful and effective because it bright to a blinding extent and being in this light (which is where some audience members were pushed) meant you could hardly see anything else which would hopefully give them the feeling of vulnerability. Also this light gave off a lot of heat which meant when walking into the room there was a feeling of suffocation and a sense of claustraphobia which once agin in room 101 is the intended effect.

Punch Drunk
'Punch drunk works with producing and commissioning partners to create the unforgettable theatrical experiences of the future'
Punch drunk has developed a phenomenal reputation for transformative productions that focus as much on the audience and the performance space as on the performers and narrative. Inspired designers occupy deserted buildings and apply a cinematic level of detail to immerse the audience in the world of the show.
This is a unique theatrical experience where the lines between space, performer and spectator are constantly shifting. Audiences are invited to rediscover the childlike excitement and anticipation of exploring the unknown and experience a real sense of adventure. Free to encounter the installed environment in an individual imaginative journey, the choice of what to watch and where to go is theirs alone.
Justifying some decisions used
Justify decisions for use of multimedia
Multimedia was the performance
Props was important and effective throughout the performance
Dance at the end was a medium used in the performance
Anti sex league Had red ribbon and white shirts which intrigued the audience to enter contrasts to what was going on upstairs in rooms such as room 101.
Use of lighting in the lecture theatre disoriented the audience and the simplicity of this was effective. The use of sounds capes in 413 repetitive sound of war is peace... Facts on 1984 & George Orwell
After leaving the India Imperial Force, Orwell struggled to get his writing career off the ground. His first major work, Down and Out in Paris and London, (1933) explored his time eking out a living in these two cities. Orwell took all sorts of jobs to make ends meet, including being a dishwasher. The book provided a brutal look at the lives of the working poor and of those living a transient existence.
• After telling his wife he was going "hunting for humans", James Huberty shoots 40 people at a McDonald's in San Ysidro, California. He kills 21 people before he was shot to death by police.

1984 Opinion
1984 is about a world ruled by the all-seeing Big Brother, where love is forbidden, history erased, language twisted, and wanting to be different is is a crime.
My first thought of 1984 or 2050 was that the plot and the story of the play was very unique and original. I thought that it is interesting to see what people might have thought the future or 1984 would be like and it is interesting to compare it to what it is actually like and the future. I found it interesting that the past, present and future was in a enduring dialogue and due to that some might think that the play may be a little confusing however i found it very c;era and easy to undeetand, and a clear understanding of a play allowed me to enjoy it more. I also thought that the play was harsh and sad becaiuse if i put myself in the shoes of

1984
For 1984 or now 2050 we are creating an emersive theatre experience which is audience led. All audience members will wear surgical masks and the performance will contain detailed sets. Most spaces will have multimedia in them (audio, video, sound, lighting, smoke set). In this piece the audience is the story teller and even though the performance only lasts an hour we are creating 3-4hrs worth of material which means no audience member will see everything or see the same show. The ending of the performance is the beginning of the revolution. We will be using:
Lecture Theatre
The Space
Rooms 411
418
415
413
All the hallways in-between
Outsides Green space
Tree space
Room 411 will be the room of torture formally known as room 101
Room 418 is going to be Winston's home that could include his diary and half eaten meals
Room 413 is the ministry food hall where food will actually be made
Room 415 will be the office and may have videos of though criminals and audience (live feed)
Space will be used for the group hate room a sort of brainwash clips of hatred
In the hallways could be propaganda of some sort
Lecture Theatre will have a cold business feel to it (the beginning)
The audience are visitors and are treated with respect. During this lesson we put everything that we are going to do, each move into a timeline, this was a good idea as it meant that everything we were going to do was clearly laid out and it made life a lot more easier. It made it clear what everyone was doing during of the hour of ther play so we could see what interactions we may or may not have with other groups.
